Studio Portrait Basics PDF Print E-mail

Explore studio portrait lighting and develop an understanding of lights, light modifiers and exposure in this two part, 5 hour course.

Part one will be theory where you will learn about lights, light modifiers, metering and the general principles of portrait lighting.

In part two you will use the knowledge gained from part 1 and put it into action creating a variety of portrait lighting setups.
Starting from a simple, single light set-up, we will introduce reflectors, hair lights, fill lights and back lights to create stunning looking images.

This course is designed for people who have little prior knowledge of portrait lighting.

Instructor

Steve Piggott

Born in England, Steven came to Australia in the early 70’s and currently lives south of Sydney in the beautiful Illawarra.

Starting his photographic career in 1983 he worked, as many people do, in retail camera sales. In 1986 he started studies for his diploma of photography at Sydney TAFE (Ultimo) while also working for various photographic studios shooting portraits, still life and weddings.

After Tafe, he opened his own photographic studio, which he successfully ran for a number of years, until once again returning to the area of photographic sales.

Steven is the content manager for the Foto Riesel training centre.
